Inspection and Documentation Requirements

OSHA 1910.27– fixed ladder standard requires regular ladder inspections be performed and records of inspections and repairs must be maintained.

Inspections must include all the major components rungs, side rails, supports, fasteners, anchors, ladder safety systems, back and front clearances/obstructions, hatches, hatch arm openings, grab bars, platforms, side rail extension anchors, as well as determining the ladders overall suitability for use.

R

Proof of compliance

When your safety management system comes under scrutiny, you’ll be prepared. We provide all the documentation needed to maintain you annual ladder inspection records.

An inventory control sheet for ever ladder lists location, length, general condition, and OSHA compliance status. Certified ladders are tagged on site. For ladders not in compliance we propose specific, cost effective changes needed to make them compliant.

Making Existing Ladders Safe

SATRA will assess whether your ladders need modifications to reduce the risk of falls, improve employee safety, and maintain OSHA compliance.

For added safety on heavy use ladders some recommendations may go beyond the standards.

Cost Effective Solutions

Retrofitting existing ladders with a cable climb systems is a cost effective way to make non-compliant ladders compliant. They eliminate the need for cages and offsets.

When a ladder is determined to be unnecessary due to lack of use we may recommend taking it out of service or repurposing it for use in another area.
